Okay, hurl my innocent body into the cruel machine of war. I'm ready.

–Peasant

Raz encounters these game pieces while trying to straighten out Fred Bonaparte’s inner psyche.

Old Psychopedia description

The Peasants were mental figures that appeared in Waterloo World in Psychonauts. They were resistant to go up against the army of Napoleon Bonaparte, but became Fred's militia after Razputin managed to convince them fight back. They were all destroyed while fighting the French Soldiers.

Psychonauts[]

There are three different Peasants in Waterloo World. They all are recruited by Raz to join Fred Bonaparte's fight against Napoleon's troops. Each of one them "dies" after fighting the troops.

First Peasant[]

The first Peasant refuses to join the army because he thinks Fred does not care about his people. Raz must ask Fred to write a note stating he truly cares about the townsfolk to convince the Peasant to join the army. Overjoyed by Fred's note, he takes part in the war and sacrifices his life to kill one of Napoleon's soldiers.

Second Peasant[]

The second Peasant refuses to join the army unless he gets paid money for his family expenses as a result of his wife blowing money on scrapbook supplies. He won't come out of his house because one of Napoleon's soldiers is nearby. After the soldier is defeated by the first Peasant, Raz must find a rare heirloom in a fireplace to give as his payment. The Peasant says goodbye to his wife and dies in battle with the second soldier.

Third Peasant[]

The third Peasant refuses to join the army because a soldier is outside of his house and he is unarmed. After the second soldier is defeated by the second Peasant, Razputin must bring the third Peasant a musket from the heavily guarded building located in front of the stronghold. However, after Raz gives him the musket the third Peasant begins to make his way to rob the carpenter. Nonetheless, Raz explains he got the gun for the third Peasant to fight in the war. The third Peasant agrees to fight for practice so he can successfully rob the carpenter later. He successfully kills the last soldier but dies in the process.

Quotes[]

  • (Show coin to first peasant) "I'm not in this for the money. If our leaders cared about us I'd fight for nothing!"
  • (Show musket to first peasant) "Oh. I got a gun already. But who cares about killing unless you're killing FOR someone, you know?"
  • (show note to second peasant) "Well then' he should put his money where his mouth is and PAY US."
  • (show musket to second peasant) "It would be cool if we had some pawn shops in this town and I could SELL IT."
  • (show coin to third peasant) "Man, I could buy a gun with that if we had a decent pawn shop in town."
  • (Pyrokinesis on the first peasant) "Quit it! I'm made of wood!"
  • (Hit the second peasant) "Hey, you're not paying me enough for that!"
  • (Hit the third peasant) "Watch it, this gun is loaded!"
  • (show coin to second peasant) "MONEY! OH MAN!"
  • "Whats the pay?"
  • "Well, I'm off to die in battle dear, for an incompetent leader who will never know my name. I hope you remarry well!"
  • "I just hope she doesn't spend it all on scrapbook-making supplies. She's gone nuts about that stuff. Part of the reason I'm ready to die."
  • "Go away! Fred Bonaparte has forgotten the people, and we have forgotten him!"
  • "He has abandoned us! He doesn't care if we live or die!"
  • "I'll believe it when I hear it from him!"

Trivia[]

  • When using Clairvoyance on the peasants, Raz will appear as a contemporary general raising a sword.
  • If Raz tries to enter the house of the third peasant before he recruits the other peasants, a message saying "Out bullet shopping. Back in a few." will pop up.
