Sheegor

Lurking in the dark hallways of Thorney Towers is a mysterious girl with a passion for brains. Once a patient in the asylum suffering from Acute Polyphobic Disorder, Sheegor was left behind, and now assists the mad Dr. Loboto in his terrible experiments.

–Character blurb from the original Psychonauts website

Sheegor is an eccentric and easily frightened woman. She is a former resident of Thorney Towers and former lab assistant to Dr. Caligosto Loboto. She is the current lab assistant to Sasha Nein. She is stationed at Sasha's lab at Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp.

Personality[]

Sheegor is shown to be very meek and she frequently shivers from anxiety. Sheegor is very dependent on her friend, Mr. Pokeylope, and becomes very distressed when Dr. Caligosto Loboto threatens to make soup out of the turtle

Psychonauts[]

When Razputin travels to the upper floors of the Asylum, he sees something stare at him from around a corner, only to disappear with a small shriek when he gets too close. The identity of this odd person is revealed when Razputin reaches the very top: it is Loboto's assistant Sheegor, who warns him not to go any further "or he'd be very, very sorry". Despite appearing frightening, Sheegor was in fact trying to protect him from her sadistic boss.

Razputin goes on, having ignored more serious warnings than hers, and eavesdrops on a conversation between Sheegor and Loboto. Quite contrary to her boss, she does not wish anyone any harm at all, and in fact only does his bidding because he holds her friend, Mr. Pokeylope, hostage. Sheegor refuses to bring the dentist any more brains, but Loboto responds to this by threatening to cook Mr. Pokeylope. A hysterical Sheegor then flees to her quarters, where Lili and the bodies of Sasha and Milla are held captive. As Sheegor did not vocally respond to Loboto’s threat, the latter simply warned her to bring him more brains or else Mr. Pokeylope would become “Mr. Smokeylope”. Razputin decides to rescue the turtle before taking any further steps, and does so by luring him out with a slice of chocolate Birthday Cake. It then turns out Mr. Pokeylope is fully sapient, and also very intelligent - hatching a plan to defeat Loboto within seconds of being brought back to Sheegor.

Once Dr. Loboto is defeated, she eagerly joins the Psychonauts upon request from Sasha Nein and becomes his lab assistant. After the destruction of the asylum, she is seen happily enjoying the reunion of Pokeylope and Linda in a bonus cutscene obtained at PSI Cadet Rank 100.

Psychonauts 2[]

Sheegor will not physically appear in Psychonauts 2. She does, however, appear as a figment in Loboto's mind.[3] Sheegor also makes a brief appearance in the Psychonauts recap animation in Psychonauts 2.

Trivia[]

  • A heavily damaged brain can be found laying inside Dr. Loboto's Lab before the lab's destruction. It is unknown who it belongs to. Sheegor mentioned she rescued any remaining brains before the destruction of the facility, meaning the brain now possibly resides under her care.
    • This is further enforced by the fact that the brain disappears from the lab once Loboto is knocked off the tower.
  • Sheegor's name, appearance, behavior, and role as Dr. Loboto's lab assistant are a reference to Igor (pronounced "EE-gor"), the assistant to Dr. Frankenstein in many adaptations of Frankenstein, though not original to Mary Shelley's novel
  • Sheegor is voiced by Tara Strong who also voiced Timmy Turner from The Fairly OddParents, Raven from Teen Titans and Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls.
  • Sheegor is one of the few adults the Psycho-Portal does not work on. It simply bounces back, as it does with Loboto, though no explanation is provided as to why.
    • The most likely explanation is that the same rule as with Crispin applies to her as well: Loboto had put up some sort of psychic safeguard to protect his important "employees" from getting their minds invaded.
  • Using Clairvoyance on her reveals her seeing Razputin as a saintlike savior, complete with a halo.
  • In Raz's notebook illustrations in Psychonauts 2, he puts a sticky note with "actually cool" written on it next to a drawing of Sheegor.

  1. Thorney Towers closed 55 years before the start of Psychonauts (according to a tree stump in Whispering Rock), but given the Thorney Towers history dates open up a lot of problems, this should be taken with a grain of salt.
