–blurb from the Psycho Manual
Personal Demons are common enemies in mental worlds (in Psychonauts only), often appearing by the side of other enemies, such as the Censors. They explode on proximity, killing themselves but deal a lot of damage in the process. They can harm Raz as well as other enemies.
Appearance[]
The Personal Demons scream like small children. They wear suits, like the Censors, however, they don't wear shoes. Typically, they have orange skin, glowing orange eyes, white sharp teeth, and spikes on their heads. They have four fingers on each hand and two toes on each foot. They have sharp black patterns on their faces and a bomb fuse on top of their heads.
Strategy[]
Raz should avoid hitting them up close. Instead, he should PSI Blast them from a distance. Raz can also use Shield to protect himself from their explosions.
Trivia[]
- Personal Demons are the only enemy in Psychonauts that Ford Cruller never describes to Raz.
- Using Clairvoyance on a Personal Demon will show Raz as a target.
- Personal Demons appear during the battles against the Nightmares and will attempt to restore the bosses' health. Using Telekinesis to toss a Personal Demon into the mouth of a Nightmare will result in it shriveling up into stone.
- Personal demons are called "Suicide Censors" in the game's filenames.
- Personal Demons will also spawn from Censor doors.
- The Personal Demons do not appear in sequels to Psychonauts, however they have a similar enemy counterpart in Psychonauts 2, the Bad Idea, that also uses bombs as weapons.
- The appearance of the personal demon in the Nightmares battle is also used in Black Velvetopia however in the Nightmares battle the head can only be seen.
